Last week, we asked:
On an FAA Instrument Approach Chart, what does the symbol boxed in red represent?
|
Most of you said it was an MSA (39%) or MEA (34%). However, it's actually a TAA - a transition from the en route structure to the terminal environment for RNAV-equipped aircraft designed for operational use and obstacle clearance. Think of it like a mini-STAR that helps provide a safe and orderly descent onto the approach itself, mostly found at smaller airports where terrain clearance is an issue. 26% of you got it right.
